Easter Prayer

At Blackwater Pond the tossed waters have settled
after a night of rain. / I dip my cupped hands. I drink
a long time. It tastes / like stone, leaves, fire. It falls cold
into my body, waking the bones. I hear them / deep inside me, whispering
oh what is that beautiful thing / that just happened?
—Mary Oliver

We’ve just stepped into the Easter season after wondering in the Lenten wilderness.  It is a time of resurrection, new life, hope, and fresh opportunities to live into our faith.  It could be a beautiful time, like Mary Oliver describes, that wakes our bones.  My Easter prayer for all of us is that we allow resurrection to take place in our own lives.  Where do we need to welcome new life?  Where do we need to let go?  And how might we support one another during this resurrection time?  How do we nurture the fragile newness that wants to grow and bloom in our lives?  I hope you will help me notice and stay open to the beautiful things that come our way in the days and weeks ahead.
